GNU/Linux + GPE on HTC s200 (Prophet)

Lately I’ve been experimenting with my s200, until I finally got it. Well, rather, the cracks working on the linwizard project have achieved it, given the similarities of the HTC Wizard with the Prophet we can perfectly run the assembled kernel from one to the other.

We have been able to run the command line for a long time, but the first graphical environments such as GPE, Opie, OpenMoko and even Android are already beginning to move.

Create your own Telnet client in C#

Due to the needs of a new project, I have been involved in the need to establish a telnet connection, so since we start investigating we do it from a Pocket PC, although the code I present is independent of the device, even Mono.

After reviewing several dotnettelnet type libraries, I opted for Minimalistic Telnet, basically because it was more adapted to my needs and it is much clearer what we intend to do at the learning level.

WM6 on HTC s200 G4

Since HTC does not decide to release the update and the monkey is not forgiving, we have had to put in a little effort, and since we are not going to demonstrate that it is possible and how to do it.

Requirements:

  • HTC s200 (we can buy it, steal it, contract with a mobile operator, ….)

  • A computer with Windows XP or 2003. I DO NOT recommend doing it with Vista. It is necessary that the PC has USB, and that it works well, although the good thing is to do it with one that blocks the USB when you connect something to it, as was my option (you might screw up… yes, but what about the pleasure of risk??)
