Bird Robot

Impressive advance in robotics, Markus Fischer, head of Corporate Design at FESTO, has presented in Edinburgh a robot that imitates the flight of a bird, to the point that due to its lightness it manages to fly, the truth is that the level they have achieved is impressive, given that this achievement is an interesting advance

Obviously not related to commercial aviation (I don’t see Airbus giving its passengers these movements), but for thousands of biotechnology, forestry,… projects.

Current regulator at 7.2V

In order to power an airband radio I have found some curious voltage specifications, exactly 7.2V, and the input we have from the motor is 12V, therefore, we have had to build our own current regulator.

In the search I found the regulator LM317, essential when you want to obtain currents that are not as common as 5V, 9V, ….. it has three terminals, and is capable of supplying more than 1.5 A in a range of between 1.2 V and 37 V.

space hackers

Impressive activities of these two Italian brothers, Achille and Giovanni Battista Judica Cordiglia, authentic hackers of the airwaves, who managed to bring out the colors of NASA and put the Russian space race in compromising situations.

What would be the equivalent of these investigations today?

13 km wifi link

What better thing can you do on a Saturday morning than to try the new antenna that has arrived, it is a 24 db eRize. The project has been proposed to link a town 12.9 km away in a straight line with the UCLM Wi-Fi network, obviously with a stable connection. A few years ago we already achieved something similar, but against a high-rise building.

We left early for the specific place and as the weather forecast indicated, fog made vision extremely difficult, to the point that it was more of a trial, error and intuition type to achieve the objective.

Set up your own Bluetooth Hotspot

An easy way to send information about your association’s events to everyone who walks through your door, spam all your neighbors, and a thousand other ways to use this system.

This technology is based on sending text, images, applications, melodies, ….. indiscriminately to anyone within the coverage field of the Bluetooth antenna (approx. 20-40 meters).

I have chosen Debian to mount it, although I suppose that in Ubuntu it is similar. Also compatible with other distros. First (with the Bluetooth plug inserted and configured) we make sure we have all the necessary library and software dependencies:

New record: WiFi connection at 304 kilometers

C.I.S.A.R. and Ubiquiti Networks have managed to send information from Sardinia to central Italy through a 5 GHz Wi-Fi network.

Wireless connections are, without a doubt, the future of the Internet and every so often new advances appear that seem to confirm this situation. Although there are currently certain barriers that seem to prevent its use on a global level, numerous researchers are working to try to solve these problems.

Wireless Citizen Networks

Last Friday I had the pleasure of being with the people of Imaginatica in Seville, thanks to the invitation from the IEEEsb of Seville, the truth is that they were a couple of interesting days, and to thank all the people of Seville for their welcome. Without forgetting those handymen who worked so hard at the WalkingBug workshop.

And as some attendees asked me, here I publish the presentations of the talk, to see if they get a little excited and join the SeWi project that is so close to them. And for others to make this initiative their own and set up their own network in their locality. Presentation: odp or pdf

WIFISLAX, WEPbreaker for dummies

New distribution for system audits and also national!! It is one more step from the offspring of many others such as Auditor, iWhax, BackTracks, … but with the advantage of the latest drivers for Wi-Fi cards, with the possibility of injecting traffic into the typical Intel ones on laptops.

Apart from the classic tools that we had in its predecessors, a notable novelty in the software part is the script that can be started directly from the menu, from which we continue with a wizard of the type… shall we scan?? Who do we attack? How do you want us to give him his hair??? I give you the key? All this by simply selecting option 1,2,3, …. from the menu and clicking “Enter”. Not only that but to the point of being able to disconnect others from the wireless network.

Big mistakes in project management

I would like to rescue this translation so that no one forgets it when it comes to leading a project, since without meaning to, some of us have made mistakes of this caliber at times:

Perhaps the most difficult position to fill in any software development project is that of the project manager. The project manager has full responsibility for all technical aspects of the project - design, code, technology selection, work assignment, scheduling aspects.

AlbaceteWireless is now a reality

After last Thursday’s meeting, a few possible nodes have already emerged, apart from the current one that is already working and that during this weekend citizen link tests will be carried out.

AlbaceteWireless The 6km link remains stable, without losing the connection at any time, so we can say that after the odyssey and triumph in www.larodawireless.net, we embark on this new task of providing coverage to all of Albacete
