13 km wifi link
What better thing can you do on a Saturday morning than to try the new antenna that has arrived, it is a 24 db eRize. The project has been proposed to link a town 12.9 km away in a straight line with the UCLM Wi-Fi network, obviously with a stable connection. A few years ago we already achieved something similar, but against a high-rise building.
We left early for the specific place and as the weather forecast indicated, fog made vision extremely difficult, to the point that it was more of a trial, error and intuition type to achieve the objective.
The hardware used has been a fonera, previously modified with the DD-WRT firmware. It has been configured in client mode and the power has been raised to 251 mw. Connecting with the eRize ERZA24PR-24 grid dish with the following technical specifications.
Freq. Range -MHz: 24002483
Bandwidth -MHz: 83
Gain -dBi: 24 dB
3dB Beam width 10°×14°
F/B Ratio****dB: 30 dB
VSWR: 1.5
Nominal Input Impedance-****: 50
Polarization: Vertical or Horizontal
Max Power-W: 100w
Connector: N Female
Dimension-m: 06m×0.9m
Weight****kg: 2.5Kg
Rated Wind Velocity -m/s: 60m/s
All this, and after a little patience we have managed to have a stable connection of 36 Mb/s
As the next task, project planning begins to create a 50 km link.
