ASP.NET AJAX - (I) Preparing the development environment
We begin this introductory mini-course in ASP.NET AJAX programming, over the course of a few chapters we will see what to install, how, the use and meaning of the new components and a thousand other things. I hope you like it.
Necessary material:
- Visual Studio 2005 recommended with SP1
- ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0
- ASP.NET AJAX Control Toolkit
- Futures January CTP
We will install Visual Studio routinely, in the same way we will do it with the AJAX Extensions, since they have their own installer.
Here comes the curious thing, we will unzip the AJAX Control Toolkit, and inside the directory "AjaxControlToolkit\AjaxControlExtender" we find the file "AjaxControlExtender.vsi", then we double click on it as if we were running it, a typical wizard will open, to which we will say Next »,Next »,Next », …. come on, one of the entire life, and we will have the templates ready within our VS.
Finally we will install the Futures January CTP, which in principle we will not use but… we will get there, now….
Hasn’t it been difficult? We already have our machine ready and willing to work with this new technology. Until the next chapter and to get you started, here are a series of examples that you will delight yourself with throughout the day, and best of all, that at the end of this mini-course you will be able to assemble:
Examples If you prefer to mount these examples on your machine, you have them available within the Control ToolKit, in the folder "AjaxControlToolkit\SampleWebSite", it would only be necessary to copy it to your directory where you have the Web server and give it permissions to run .NET
